This shows one of the latest additions to the " BSMEE locomotive fleet ", this is a 7¼ inch TICH
and was completed in January 2007.
The project took 29 years to complete, yes, 29 years and has proved to be a labour of love.
During the intervening years the builder completed several other projects including the restoration
of a vintage tractor and grew over 10tons of vegetables in his garden so there has been several other
distractions!!
The project is based upon the very successful 3½ inch scale model of a contractor's shunting locomotive
designed by "Curly" Lawrence, better known as LBSC, this design was first published in the Model Engineer in
the late 1940's and was later published in book form. The details for the 7¼ inch version are derived from
the drawings of the 3½ inch version by simply doubling most dimensions except where to do so would be a little
over the top. All of the work was undertaken on a Myford ML10 lathe.
