Our Tracks
The railway features two continuous-loop tracks. The raised track – a combined 3½″ and 5″ gauge – is elevated to improve comfort for drivers and passengers and enhance stability. Surrounding it is the ground-level track, a 7¼″ and 5″ gauge track that runs around the outside. Both tracks pass through a tunnel and are operated using a mix of traditional semaphore and coloured light signals.
Our Garden Railway
Our younger visitors are enthralled by our 16mm scale garden railway that is beside the station. This provides a charming opportunity to watch members’ live steam and battery-powered locomotives as they haul their trains around the line.
Our Locomotives
The Society owns various 5” locomotives and 7¼” locomotives, both steam and electric.
