I have jus bought a Simplex loco
I will be looking for someone to mentor me in the dark art of loco firing & driving
My simplex comes with a set of irons and Boiler paperwork
What else should I be asking Santa for to get me running ?
would it be appropriate to bring my new toy to the Steam day on the 1or 2 January

Hi All
I’m planning to lay a temporary track in July for my parents 60th wedding anniversary do , I need to manufacture 20″ rad 5″ gauge curved track 60 ft of it . thinking of using 3/4 X 1/4 ( 20 X 6 mm ) flat steel , welded to flat bar sleepers ( 1″x/18 )
Dose anyone have a roller ( curve maker ) I can borrow / hire
or surgestions

Hi All
I am a new member and I am looking for advice about a 5 inch gauge steam loco to build
I have engineering skills with a mill and lathe ect at home
I am looking for a straight forward build not a monster project , so a 040 or 060 to pull me and the 2 grand kids round the track .
This is to learn to drive and understand the workings steam engines.
Advice on books & magazines to read will be very welcome as well
