GWR 1400 Class 5″ gauge model

Help with sourcing number plates needed!

I own two Winson Kits for this engine (I know, I know – not the wisest choice!). One is virtually complete and almost ready to run, the other in very early stages of assembly. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good supplier of scale cabside plates, smokebox plates and shed code plates so that I can complete them.

1451 – I have cabside plates, but need a smokebox number plate and shed code plate for 85B (Gloucester) as this was the original engine’s last shed.

1431 – I need the full set for this kit – cabside;smokebox door and shed code plate. Again that needs to be 85B (Lydney) – a sub shed in the FoD that I spent one very happy summer (1963) unofficially “helping out” servicing the engines in the evenings!

Thanks in anticipation

Myford ML7 Clutch Unit Wanted

Myford ML7 Clutch

Does anyone have an old Myford ML7 complete clutch assembly hanging around that they would like to get rid of for a reasonable sum? I really must get my 66 year old machine up and running soon and as it needs a new layshaft I thought I may as well go the whole hog and try to find a clutch assembly for it.

Lost Spanner!

Hi all

I have lost my favourite 5/8″ x 9/16″ open ended spanner (similar to the one in the photograph below) whilst doing boiler inspections at Ashton Court today. If anyone finds it I would be grateful for its return as it fits the Club’s calibrated pressure gauge.

Thanks

Club 3D printer

The Club 3D Printer is up and running and I am happy to take on any prints you would like done.

Orders for 5″ scale Class 25 ventilation panels have been filled and a further request for a Moreton brake gear reversal cam is being done at this moment. There is a small charge to cover the cost of the filament used (by weight) . Submit your 3D designs in STL format to webmaster@bristolmodelengineers.co.uk . The printer is capable of 200x200x200mm sized prints, but I need some more larger designs to test it’s capability and iron out the bugs. How about a nice flywheel or loco wheel pattern which can be used as a foundry pattern (lost wax or re-usable) .

3 1/2″ Old Bristol Club Members locos for sale

I have received the following:
Dear Secretary to the Bristol Society of Model Engineers
I am writing as the daughter of a former member of the Bristol Society of Model Engineers (whose trains were often in use at Ashton Court) in the hope that you might be able to offer me some advice.
My father sadly passed away just over a year ago and my mother has asked me to find a buyer for the two 3.5 inch gauge steam locomotives (one is finished and one is part complete) that remained in dad’s possession.  I am wondering therefore whether anyone at the BSME might be in a position to provide an idea of their value or failing that whether an alternative source of valuation could be suggested.  I am attaching some photos (complete with dust I am afraid – I can only assume my brother didn’t want to disturb the engines when he took the pictures) to give you an idea of what I am talking about.
Many thanks for your time.
Kind regards
Mary Russell

Looking for Advice

Hi All

I am a new member and I am looking for advice about a 5 inch gauge  steam loco to build

I have  engineering skills with  a mill and lathe ect at home

I am looking for a straight forward build not a monster project , so a 040 or 060  to pull me and the 2 grand kids round the track .

This is to learn to drive and understand the workings steam engines.

Advice on books & magazines  to read will be very welcome as well

Andy
